Genre: Rock / Grunge / Acoustic
Record Label: Independent
Grunge pretty much died the day Kurt Cobain was killed, didn’t it? Not exactly — bands such as Stone Temple Pilots, Bush and to a lesser extent, Staind, continued on with what could be classified as grunge. Clear across the country, in New Haven, Connecticut, a lesser known band, LOQUE, are crafting their own version of what modern grunge would sound like. “Bullets,” the bands newest single, combines elements of the Stone Temple Pilots with the acoustic melodies that Aaron Lewis of Staind became known for. Vocalist/guitarist Joe Gallagher, Jr.’s croon is eerily reminiscent of Stone Temple Pilots’ frontman Scott Weiland, and the song is that much better because of it. The song is well paced, with the the guitar lines being the perfect complement to Gallagher’s vocals, and vice-versa. The band – Gallagher, guitarist/vocalist Tony DiGiovanni and drummer Dean Christiano – may not be a well known act just yet, but in time they could be. The bands talent bleeds through “Bullets,” and with a couple more tracks like it, the band may very well find their shot at stardom.
